... no, not the TV show from the 90's. I'm just sayin', it's true: Family MATTERS!
The family unit is the one place where everyone gets to (should hopefully) feel safe, loved, valued, trusted, and free. It's the place where you can laugh until milk comes out of your nose and everyone just laughs even harder. It's the place where you can say to your sister, "Um, maybe not
those pants," and you both laugh at the ridiculousness of the way her butt looks in those things. It's the place where you can cuddle up with mom or dad and with a simple kiss on the knee, it magically heals. It's the place where just a look can say so many things.
Now, don't get me wrong, I know family life isn't always butterflies and rainbows, but hopefully the good outweighs the bad and after it all, you can look back and say, "Wow, my family matters."
I absolutely love capturing families on camera. I love the little nuances between the spouses. I love the way the both lovingly look at the child(ren) without being told, and usually without even knowing it. I love watching the kids look to the mom and dad for guidance. I love the laughter that ensues when the toddlers do the unexpected. I. love. family.
This is the L Family. They currently live in Thailand as missionaries, but were in the States for a month or two to renew their visas. Dad couldn't be here for the impromptu photo session, but mom and her boys had fun!
Meet the D girls. These two were getting ready to head off to college for the fall - one of them to Europe! So mom wanted to capture their beautiful faces all together before they went their separate, grown-up ways.
Meet the T family. With a family of 5, there's never a dull moment! They had so much fun playing at this park, they hardly noticed I was there - I loved it!
This is the H family. They're a family of 3.. getting ready to be a family of 4! Mom is expecting their first little girl in December. In the meantime, we headed to park to capture some shots of the 3 of them.
And last but not least.. the W family. This session was taken on the 2nd day of them being a family of 4! With two precious girls, they are an adorable family! Grandpa & Grandma were there to help out, so they got in on the fun too!
Hope you enjoyed all the families as much as I did!
