A Rite of Passage

Turning thirteen is kind of a big deal.  I mean.  That officially puts one in the 'teenager' category.  And for a girl who loves being a girly-girl and all that entails... it's a rite of passage.... because now.... she can wear makeup!
Amy wanted to do something a little more special for her step-daughter's 13th though.  She didn't just want to throw make up in a gift bag and say 'Happy Birthday!'.  She went all out.
The day started with a new haircut and style, then they moved on to friend's house for an hour and a half of Mary Kay pampering and training on how to take care of teenage skin, and of course how to put makeup on!  The day was only half over though - here's where I come in.  We headed to Uptown Charlotte for a picnic in the park, followed by a model-esque photoshoot for the made-over thirteen year old and her best friend.  Now if that's not an amazing 13th birthday celebration, I don't know what is!  The girls had a blast, and so did I!  Here are some of my favorites from the session!

Yes, people.  She's only thirteen.
Thanks Turner family for letting me be a part of such a special day for Mackenzie!
Mackenzie- you are beautiful inside AND out, girl!
