They Grow So Fast!

This is baby Luke... well, really that's his momma... but he's in her belly!
It's hard for me to believe that it's been just over nine months since this picture was taken!  I can remember when he was just a tiny little newborn....

I remember him siting up tall at 6 months...

But I can't believe he's 9 months old already - crawling and walking behind things like it's nobody's business!

And you know what I really, really can't believe?  I can't believe that the next time I photograph this cute litty boy he'll be ONE year old!  Time sure does fly!!
...though I'm not sure that the puppy agrees... she's still undecided about her new brother  :)

Thanks Sides family for letting me capture the growth of your baby boy!!

Meet the Boys!

You have GOT to go to THIS link and meet these precious boys!
Thank you so much to all of you that support Mission for Mawu - 25% of all the proceeds I get from the photography, I turn around and give straight to The Father's House*, so thank you for helping!
And more importantly... thanks to YOUR prayers...

These boys are FREE!

And they're some pretty good singers too!

If you want to read more about the boys check out the Ghana Rock Blog - 16 year old Madi Vincent went on the trip and is introducing one boy each day - there are three great stories on there already!

*The other 75% goes into our mission fund to help us get BACK to Africa!!  Please note that your support of Mission for Mawu is not tax deductible since you are receiving something in return.

Theeeeeyyy'rreeee BBBaaaaaaAAAAAAAAccckkkk!!!

That's right - the team that was in Ghana has returned home safe and sound - well 6 of them have. Two stayed in Ghana and will be living there for a year to get things rolling with the first residences of The Father's House! January 16 things got off to an amazing start to the boys' new lives - check it out here!
Jake & Chanda are amazing servants of God and they truly chase after His heart, I can't wait to hear and see more amazing stories of what they accomplish through HIM while they live in Ghana this year!

✈ ✈ Leavin'.... ✈ ✈ ... On a Jet Plane... ✈

As we speak 8 amazing people are boarding a plane to head to Ghana, West Africa and I couldn't be MORE excited for them than if I was going myself!  (Though, I'm kind of a little glad I'm not going because a) I know it's not God's timing for me to go right now, and b) I'm not sure it'd be a blast flying on an airplane and lugging around stuff for 15-20 hours while I'm almost 6 months pregnant!)
So anyway, today the Garretts (co-founders of Father's House Ghana) are headed to Africa with....
Rachel: an awesome woman of God, friend of ours, and a pretty amazing photographer too;
The Vincent Family: Which includes Madi, a 16 year old who relentlessly pursues God's calling on her life and has been organizing a fundraiser concert for TFH called "Ghana Rock", and her parents -they're are amazing people and close friends of the Garretts;
Jacob & Chanda: Awesome friends of ours that have a huge anointing on their lives for doing God's work, HUGE hearts, open ears and WILLING hands to put to the plow!

While they are in Ghana they'll be staying with the amazingly hospitable and loving Banini family in the Keta region.  The team will spend time at The Father's House loving on the kids that hang out there from their nearby Tegbe area (one of the poorest around).  Probably seeing a lot of this:

... kids laughing, playing football and lounging around getting filled up on God's love!

Another HUGE purpose for this trip is to take a trip to Lake Volta to rescue some boys from this:

Father's House - Ghana from Matt Garrett on Vimeo.
The boys that are rescued will be brought back to The Father's House to live, play, eat and learn about God's amazing love.  Jacob & Chanda will be staying behind after the 10-day trip to live in Ghana for an entire year to welcome these boys into the orphanage.
What an amazing trip this is going to be - I LOVE the heart this team has and represents, I LOVE that we are actually DOing something to attack child slavery in Ghana and I LOVE how God can be seen through it ALL.

Do YOU want to help?  There's SO much you can do!!
First - PRAY!  Lots of stuff seems to 'happen' when these trips head out.  Families that are still home in the States encounter problems all of a sudden, the airport suddenly has a power outage - crazy things you couldn't imagine.  So PRAY - pray for protection, favor and guidance for the team in Africa AND for their families back home!
Second - Spread the Word!!  Tell everyone you know about this awesome cause and our awesome God - the more people that know, the more people that can pray!
Third - GIVE!  You can head over here to give to The Father's House! You can sponsor a child, or just make a one-time donation.  All donations will go toward helping these boys start a NEW life at the Father's House.  It pays for their clothing, food, education, etc.  ANY amount helps - from $5 to $5,000, so please consider helping through giving!!

If you want to keep up with the daily happenings in Ghana, head over to Facebook and "Like" the Father's House Ghana page - the page will be updated frequently with photos and testimonials of what amazing things are happening across the ocean!
