A Birthday with Bob

Meet Bob.
He's this sweet girls most favorite equine (I do believe).  He was a hit at her birthday party, and so were all the other animals over at Darby Acres!
Sophie loves going to the farm, so she was right at home during her birthday party!  The kids all got to feed and interact with lots of animals to start the party off.
(Bob is a very big horse, and the kids were quite impressed!)

Then it was time to ride the horses!  The birthday girl got to ride Bob, since she's been riding for a while and knows him.  Then the rest of the kids rode the smaller horse.

When everyone had a turn, Sophie asked to ride the smaller horse too, and at the end of her ride they let her run a little bit - she LOVED it!

Can't you just see that pure joy on her face!  So sweet!

After that the kiddo's all washed up and got ready for lunch and cake!

Thanks for letting me share your special day sweet Sophie!  Happy 2nd Birthday!!

Fall at its/the Peak

When the Mikesells told me they bought a campground in Boone, NC I was surprised... and beyond thrilled.  We love to tent camp, so I was excited to scope out a new location.  But when they asked me to come photograph their family in their new special place, and snap a few shots for their website - I was super excited - two of my favorites - North Carolina mountains in the fall, and photography!
(this is a shot from the top of "Hay Mountain", a seasonal activity for the kids by the pumpkin patch on the property)

I want to post every single picture because the colors were just amazing - the day we chose to go up there the leaves had just hit their peak colors, so they were brilliant against the Carolina blue sky!  Not to mention these kids.  Adorable.  With a capital A.
(And I guess the parents aren't that hard to look at either)  ; )

The kids absolutely love coming to the campground every weekend!  This little stream is their favorite place to play - and I can see why!

The kids have lots of fun on this double swing!

This was probably my favorite fall session so far - I mean, Honey Bear Campground is AMAZING!  It's got so many neat little spots nestled into the mountainside - streams, bridges, a pond, play things for the kids - it is truly amazing!  Here are a couple more shots to show you around a little:

I kind of felt like a creeper taking that one... but I didn't want him to know I was taking it :)

This is one of the cabins they have available to rent - and this is the view from the front porch of the cabin: (below)

So, if you haven't already, you should definitely go check out Honey Bear Campground - they have tent spots, RV spots with full hook-ups, cabins, and even a park-model RV they keep ready-to-go incase you don't want to rough it in the tent, but don't have your own RV to bring!

*I was not paid in any way for this review of Honey Bear Campground, I just really like it that much and can't wait to go camping there myself! :)

Growing with Liam: One Year

He's one year old already!  I had fun capturing Liam toddling around the park to mark his one year Grow With Me Session - here are some of my favorites!

I think every little boy in the universe prefers going UP the slide, rather than up the ladder :)

And here is what happens when he goes down the slide...
Hahaha, it was so funny we had to do it again.  This time I captured the expression on his face:

He loved it!

After his one year session we did a mini family session too - just in time for the holiday season!

As always, I had a blast hanging out with the Smith family - thanks for letting me capture your beautiful family again!
