Growing with Baby L

The Sides family and I go way.. back... well, okay, maybe not WAY back.  K Sides and I teach together and when I was getting ready to go to Africa she signed up for a photo session for her maternity shots.  After we had so much fun hanging out at the barn and in the arts district, she asked me if I'd be baby L's photographer.  I am so honored to be able to grow with L at all the different stages - newborn, 3 months, and most recently 6 months.  We also threw in some family shots this time around for Christmas cards.  We've become good friends over the years and I love capturing that cutie pie of a boy on camera!

I love this one of mom trying to make L laugh for the camera!

As with most 6 month old, anything in their hand goes in their mouth... this was one of the few I snapped before it went down the hatch! (notice the drool though, he knows it's gonna taste good!)

I'm so lucky I get to capture baby L as he grows!  Thanks Sides family!

The Smith Family

These guys are some good friends of mine and I was honored that they would ask me to 'snap a few family shots' before photographing their soon-to-be-1-year-old's birthday party.  Knowing how birthday parties can go, I offered to come over one day on my way home from school instead - that way the birthday happenings wouldn't interfere with getting some great, relaxed family shots.
These two are so in love and it shows!  I love that about them!
 Such a beautiful family!

Catch ya on the flip side!

Sneak Peek - C Family Maternity session

Just a sneak peek into the session from Saturday with the C family.  We've been friends for almost 4 years - we met in a marriage class our church does and connected right away.  Us girls are both teachers and we all share a love for Africa and the people there!  It was a privilege to photograph A's very first baby bump!  They should be welcoming baby T into the world in only a few more weeks!

Filling up fast!

Not only am I filling up fast - with baby in there, I can barely get down 1/2 a meal these days! - but my calendar is filling up fast too!  Fall is the perfect time for pictures.  Lots of amazing colors to play with - comfortable enough outside that sweat doesn't have to be photo-shopped out of the photo and hair doesn't get plastered to one's head - who WOULDN'T want to take photos in October?!

Every weekend this month is filled with photo sessions and I'm SO excited!  Maternity sessions, grow-with-me sessions and family sessions.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE filling my weekends with fun people and getting behind my camera more!

That being said - if YOU want some photos (Christmas card season is RIGHT around the corner!) Contact me about November or early December!  In this beautiful Carolina weather, we can get outside and get some great photos that will last you a lifetime!!  Check out the contact page and get in touch fast - the calendar is filling up!!

Family Matters

... no, not the TV show from the 90's.  I'm just sayin',  it's true: Family MATTERS!
The family unit is the one place where everyone gets to (should hopefully) feel safe, loved, valued, trusted, and free.  It's the place where you can laugh until milk comes out of your nose and everyone just laughs even harder.  It's the place where you can say to your sister, "Um, maybe not those pants," and you both laugh at the ridiculousness of the way her butt looks in those things.  It's the place where you can cuddle up with mom or dad and with a simple kiss on the knee, it magically heals.  It's the place where just a look can say so many things.
Now, don't get me wrong, I know family life isn't always butterflies and rainbows, but hopefully the good outweighs the bad and after it all, you can look back and say, "Wow, my family matters."
I absolutely love capturing families on camera.  I love the little nuances between the spouses.  I love the way the both lovingly look at the child(ren) without being told, and usually without even knowing it.  I love watching the kids look to the mom and dad for guidance.  I love the laughter that ensues when the toddlers do the unexpected.  I. love. family.

This is the L Family.  They currently live in Thailand as missionaries, but were in the States for a month or two to renew their visas.  Dad couldn't be here for the impromptu photo session, but mom and her boys had fun!

Meet the D girls.  These two were getting ready to head off to college for the fall - one of them to Europe! So mom wanted to capture their beautiful faces all together before they went their separate, grown-up ways.

Meet the T family.  With a family of 5, there's never a dull moment!  They had so much fun playing at this park, they hardly noticed I was there - I loved it!

This is the H family.  They're a family of 3.. getting ready to be a family of 4!  Mom is expecting their first little girl in December.  In the meantime, we headed to park to capture some shots of the 3 of them.

And last but not least.. the W family.  This session was taken on the 2nd day of them being a family of 4!  With two precious girls, they are an adorable family!  Grandpa & Grandma were there to help out, so they got in on the fun too!

Hope you enjoyed all the families as much as I did!
